Dear Elaine,

It's SUMMERTIME! School will be out in a couple of weeks. This newsletter will give you a few hints to keep your family "tuned in" to God during this non-routine time of year.

Certificates!
Your certificates are ready! Stop by the office M-F  from 9am to 5pm without appointment to pick yours up.  Please call Peggy if you can not come by during those times.

Tune In

Stay "tuned in" to God this summer.  Try some of these ideas out and see what works for your family:

-Take a vacation from your parish and go to a mass at another parish. Ours is a great, big, wonderful church.  Why not go our for breakfast afterwards and talk about the experience?

-Family giveaway:  Christmas is not the only time when we can give to the needy.  Why not clean out our clothes closets and toy boxes and donate the things we don't use anymore but are still in good condition?

-When out of town on vacation, go to the local Catholic church for mass. When visiting relatives, go to their church service with them-even if it is not Catholic.  Notice the differences and similarities.  Talk about them afterwards.

-Notice God everywhere you go.  This is easy when experiencing nature. Look for God in the people you meet. Have the kids keep a daily journal and write how they saw God each day. If you talk about it first, it will be easier for the children to write about it in their journal.  You keep one too!

-When the kids are antsy on a big trip, pray the rosary with them.

-Sign up the kids for summer VBS and other activities happening at St. Francis.  Watch the bulletin and listen for announcements at mass for these and other family events!  Click on VBS 2009 in quick links for more information and printable registration form.

Welcome to summer!  We (GOF leaders, Lisa and myself) are looking forward to sitting down with you to listen and to offer a continued connection to St. Francis.  We will be calling you soon to schedule a meeting sometime during the summer.

God's blessings to your family.

Sincerely,
Peggy Bariteau
