:: you aren't alone

St. Francis of Assistance Network addresses the spiritual side of coping with job loss.

We provide individuals to just be there and listen to your concerns with a sympathetic ear. Please see the section “Helping Others” for more details.

We know of a lot of people who have given up, they are in pain, but they hold back from joining groups because it is too embarrassing. Help us form a small non-threatening job support groups of 6 – 8 people who focus, encourage and support each other until they get jobs. Find out more.

 Remember the old Employee Referral programs in companies? Along these same lines but going a few steps further, SFAN is developing a “Spotter, Resource, Reference” program.  Find out more.

:: Job Search & Posting

SFAN is now linked with Career Actions Network (CAN), a powerful way for the job seeker to get exposure not only within the St. Francis of Assisi Community, but also with a larger faith-based group. Click here for more details.

There is no charge to post to SFAN so please click here to use our Job posting page and fill out the form. We will post your opportunity right away here on SFAN and we will send a broadcast email to all our members.

In addition, SFAN is presently making  PeopleProp available to our members. PeopleProp is a community and national job bank network. There is no charge for a job seeker to use the site.  However, prospective employers who wish to post a job opportunity on PeopleProp will have to pay the usual fees.

:: helping each other

We want to have an evening liturgy of scripture, prayer and song dedicated to praying for those who seek employment. We need volunteers to help develop the liturgy and participate, or act as greeters and ushers. The organizers will agree on a good date to hold this event.

Let us know if you can help.  Please fill out a Volunteer” form or email SFAN@sfoasj.org.

:: prayer

God our Father and Creator.  You bestow on us gifts and talents to develop and use in accord with Your will.

Grant to me through the intercession of St. Joseph, the worker, as model and guide, employment and work, that I may, with dignity, provide for those who depend on me for care and support.

Grant me the opportunities to use my energy and my talents and abilities for the good of all, and the glory of Your name.

Grant this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

:: about us

St. Francis of Assistance Network was formed in April, 2009 by a group of concerned parishioners at the suggestion of Monsignor John Sandersfeld.

It has grown from its modest beginnings to a group exceeding 100 individuals. We have two major goals:

(1) Provide ways to help people cope with job loss, underemployment and the resulting financial and personal stresses.

(2) Help people get jobs, now, and to be more prepared when the job market begins to improve.
